~Stuck in an Airport~

Jasmine was at the airport with her parents and two brothers. There were people everywhere and they all had just been informed that their flights would have to be postponed until the weather cleared. It was snowing and wasn’t about to stop any time soon. Jasmine was gazing out the window, watching the snowflakes come gliding down. They were all different sizes, and they all looked different.

The airport was getting anxious. Mothers were soothing their hungry babies. Young children were running all over the place, already starting to go wild from the excitement of being stuck in an airport. Jasmine had found a girl the same age as her and had been hanging out with her. At this moment the two 9 year olds were watching the snow come down from the gray sky. The heavy snow was landing on the planes and causing ice on the runway.

A voice on the intercom came over yet again, letting everyone know hat they would be stuck in all night definitely. The sky was getting darker and darker and the snow was getting bigger and heavier. On top of the heavy, wet snow, sleet was piercing through the evening air. By now the sun was gone, and the moon was a silver smudge in the black sky.

It had all quieted down; children were nestled up to their parents and were sleeping soundly. Jasmine was leaning against a wall, watching the calmness and serenity the airport now possessed. Luckily another family Jasmine had met had some extra blankets that she and her brothers could use.

When Jasmine woke up the sun was shining and already starting to melt off some of the icy snow. Her mother informed her that they would be on their way to their destination in no time. Once the planes were back in order and the pilots were ready, they would be able to board and head out.

Jasmine had so much fun being stuck in the airport, getting to meet new friends and people, and being able to spend some quality time with her family. Even though she had a fun time, it’s not something she is looking forward to again…after all, they had to postpone their flight.
