This should be the last one for a little while. ;)
~Random Campground Scenery~
The sun came shining in through the cabin window. Today was the last day of camp. Jamie was sad to leave, but was happy of all her fond memories. Her fun times playing kickball in the field, or hanging out with her friends. The nature was always a highlight every year.
There were many exciting and special sites around the campgrounds. There was a massive tree called Big Bertha. She was over 50 feet tall and her crown was so broad. Her leaves were large, and a dark green color. Her bark was flaky and different shades of brown. She towered to the sky and everyone who looked up to her was in awe. The younger children, who came at the end of the week to pick up their old siblings from a week of fun, would stare up at her in such amazement.
Not only was there Big Bertha, but there were many creeks and small water ways. They each had their own characteristics. The Vine River was probably one of the most enjoyable to look at of all of them throughout the whole campground. The name said it all. There were many vines drooping over the moving water, looking like snakes hanging down from the trees. They were slimy and different thicknesses. Some you could climb and swing, while others would snap because of the wind. They were from green to brown, and there was moss living and dwelling on them. There were rocks and pebbles covering the base of the river. Large rocks were peeping out their tops warning creek-stomppers not to tread there.
Then there was the Raining Waterfall. The waterfall was very peaceful and reminded anyone who visited there of rain falling. When the sun was coming through the trees, the leaves made patterns over the falling water. The water creating the falls came from the famous Vine River, and fell into the Landed Lake.
The Landed Lake was the last finishing touch to the “Three Amigos” as the campground markers were so affectionately called. Landed Lake was the water that came from the Raining Waterfall. And Rainfall Waterfall was born because of the Vine River. The Landed Lake had many rocks along the shore. There were many salamanders that lived under them, their shiny skin all muddy from the dirt beneath. There were minnows swarming under the water surface and crawdads living with them. Other random fish lived in unison with the minnows and crawdads as well.
After looking back at her week, Jamie was really sad to go home with her parents. However, she was really looking forward to next year’s camp week. She couldn’t wait.
